STAFF at Dogs Trust Merseyside are celebrating 'Bring Your Dog to Work Day' by bringing their four-legged friends back to the centre.

Today (Friday) the team had a doggie reunion with many of the ‘canine colleagues’ that the current team members have adopted from the Huyton rehoming centre - 47 in total - with Water Spaniel Beezer being the first back in 2003 who was adopted by centre manager Georgina Lowery.

Georgina said: “Visitors always ask how do we resist taking the dogs home with us, and the fact of the matter is, sometimes we don’t.

"Often especially if an older dog finds themselves homeless or one needs a little extra TLC it is very hard not to take them home if they will fit in with your family and other pets.

“In total I’ve adopted five, my current dog being Lurcher Ella who I adopted six year ago.

"Four other members of staff have also adopted five each.”

Between them the current 22 members of staff have adopted everything from Greyhounds to Shih Tzus and Labradors to Collies with 30 still loving life with their forever families.

But on the day the team also took a moment to remember dogs they had adopted that have sadly passed away.

Georgina added: “While we are celebrating Bring Your Dog to Work Day to demonstrate just what joy dogs can add to daily life, we wanted to say ‘thank you’ to those no longer with us that played such a huge part in our lives and who we only got to know and love through our work here at Dogs Trust.”
