Over the years the event has raised more than £18,000 for charities across the region with Claire House as the main beneficiary.

Organiser Mike Dudley said: "I started off the kayaking event six years ago and last year we raised more than £5,500 for Claire House.

"This year we have more than 50 participants taking part of all abilities and it’s great fun if you’re a novice or an experienced kayaker.

"Everyone goes at their own pace and you can go on a double kayak to share the paddling. We can even organise kayak hire".
