A CHARITY football match was held in honour of Heswall man Tim Cogley who passed away in April.

Held on Saturday May 20 at Gayton Park the event organised by Mark Cameron saw Cogley’s Legends take on Cogley’s Cubs for Claire House – a charity Tim frequently fundraised for.

Ex-Liverpool players like Jan Molby, Paul Ince and Michael Thomas made up the Legends side and the Cubs consisted of staff from the Red Fox, Thornton Hough and the 107 Dining Room in Heswall.

A minute’s applause was held for Tim before the game began with friends and family watching on.

At the final whistle the score was 2-2 and with no clear winner the match went to penalties with Cogley’s Cubs coming out on top 5-4.

Tim’s mum and dad then presented the Cubs with the Cogley Memorial Cup.

More than 200 people attended the game which raised £1,000 in celebration of Tim’s life and love of football.

Claire House community fundraiser Rhyanna Morris said: "The amazing event Mark Cameron and both teams organised for their wonderful friend Tim, truly made everyone here at Claire House smile.

"They have been so enthusiastic and dedicated to raising the most money possible for Tim’s beloved Claire House.

"The money donated by the Cogley Cup is helping seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full.

"The hospice helps families smile again when life couldn’t get any tougher, and without amazing people, like everyone who attended and participated in the Cogley Cup, we would not be able to help our phenomenal children, young adults and families."
