Planned roadworks will soon get underway at Arrowe Park Hospital to help improve flow of traffic outside its Emergency Department.

Although the works will not affect emergency ambulances entering or exiting the site, there will be changes to how some visitors and staff leave the hospital.

For safety a one-way system will be temporarily introduced taking visiting vehicles from the free car park, and staff vehicles from the employee car park, around the back of the hospital to the site's alternative exit on Arrowe Park Road.

The improvement work is expected to start at 9am on Monday, June 5, and scheduled to last three weeks.

Bob Jones, estates project lead at the hospital, said: “The aim is to cause minimal disruption to visitors and patients.

"However we do apologise as there may be some slight congestion as vehicles travel along the one-way system at the back of the hospital.

"For the comfort of those using patient transport services, speed bumps have been removed from the rear of the building - however the speed limit of 15mph remains in place.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience while we carry out this work which will provide long-term benefits to visitors, patients and staff.”
