A Wirral man accused of manslaughter after an incident in New Brighton last December has admitted the offence.
Zac Matthew Wells died nine days after being attacked at about 3.45 am on Boxing Day last year after leaving Evo’s Loft night club.
29-year-old Christopher Cousins, of Dundee Grove, Wallasey, had originally been accused of his murder, but a manslaughter charge was later substituted which he denied.
But today he re-appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link and changed his plea to guilty to the unlawful killing.
Three other men have already denied that charge and they are to face a trial, expected to last three weeks, beginning on July 3.
They are Daniel Gardner, 19, of Comely Bank Road, Egremont, Wallasey; Naomi Ogden, 27, of Old Chester Road, Tranmere and a 16-year-old boy from Eastham. They are all on bail.
The court has heard on an earlier occasion that a post mortem examination revealed that the 30-year-old victim had died following “a blow to the back of the head.”
Cousins has been further remanded in custody to await sentence after the trial of his co-accused.
