Metro mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram will be joined by Liverpool city mayor Joe Anderson at Liverpool’s Pier Head to follow a call from Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham and the Prime Minister for a national minute’s silence.

Mr Rotheram said:“This appalling event has united our two great City Regions in grief and solidarity.

"It is a tragedy that has touched families in both areas and beyond.
