A WIRRAL dad is being treated in hospital after sustaining serious injuries during the Manchester terror attack.

Robert Potter, a member of Oldershaw Rugby Club in Wallasey, was attending the concert with family and friends when he was seriously injured by the blast.

He was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.

22 people were killed and 59 were injured during the attack after an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena on Monday.

A spokesman for Oldershaw Rugby Club said: “Oldershaw rugby club can confirm that one of their members was unfortunately caught up in the atrocity that happened in Manchester on Monday evening.

“The staff at the hospital are doing a tremendous job and the level of care he is receiving is truly magnificent.

“Robert is still in the early stages of his treatment but does seem to be responding in a positive way.

“Robert’s mum Elaine and dad Charlie would like to thank the response shown by Oldershaw rugby club as well as all of Robert’s friends and family.

“They have been overwhelmed with the messages of support and are truly touched by how much concern has been shown by family, friends and the countless other well-wishers that know Robert.

“The family have politely requested that Robert is given a few more days to rest and recover in the knowledge that everyone is thinking of him.

“Robert is not yet ready to receive visitors as he is still undergoing initial treatment and further assessments.

“The family will keep everybody informed of his progress over the coming days and weeks and will let people know when Robert is strong enough for visitors.

“We know that there is a lot of people wishing him a speedy recovery and we would like to thank you all again for the support that you are showing for his recovery.”
