BACK for their tenth year celebrations Liverpool Sound City will christen their new home of Clarence Docks from Saturday May 27 to Sunday May 28.

With two stand-alone birthday shows; The Human League on Thursday, May 25 and John Cale on Friday, May 26, the rest of the bank holiday weekend welcomes a solid line-up that will appeal to the mass crowds who go to the event year after year.

Saturday's headliners Metronomy will be joined by the likes of The Kills, Slaves, Peaches, Carl Barat, The Hunna, The Japanese House and Pale Waves.

Making a re-appearance at the festival indie legends The Kooks will headline Sunday and share the line-up with the likes of Local Natives, Milburn, The Sherlocks, She Drew The Gun and The Vryll Society.

We spoke to emerging talent promoter Martin Moseley about what to expect this weekend.

Are there any Wirral acts performing – if so who?

Yes - we have Marvin Powell from West Kirby. His debut album is out later this year. My old pals Jo Mary will also perform after an amazing set at this years Getintothis Awards.

Wirral's very own answer to Bob Dylan - Jimbob James is making an appearance and the ever present Cal Ruddy from New Brighton will also be there.

Panda Cult who were formally known as Vynce will also shake up the crowds with some brand new music.

There is huge talent in Wirral. It's just a shame it goes so over looked.

As it’s in its 10th year will there have you got any surprises up your sleeves?

Liverpool Sound City is a always full of surprises. There will be the first festival appearance of a secret Skeleton Key (The Coral's music label) band on the Sunday which will only be announced the day before and believe me they sound huge.

There are so many festivals around the UK now, what makes Sound City so special?

We are in the music capital of the country with a strong focus on grass-root 'scouse' acts and emerging talent from the local area.

Wirral has the highest density of fantastic musicians in the country - and I know that is fact.

Are there any tickets left and how can people get involved?

Tickets are selling fast and with the weather going to be a total scorcher this bank holiday now is the time to make sure you're involved.

Who are your top emerging talent bands that we can’t miss?

There is a real mixed crowd of emerging talent so I couldn't possibly pick.

The beauty of the emerging talent is that there is definitely something for everyone and visitors can sit and just watch it all day at their own place.

How will the new site Clarence Dock differ from previous years?

It is much bigger and more open plan but as it's literally just next door it has thankfully kept its famous quirky dockyard charm.

Will history be made in May?

History is made every May in Liverpool my friend..
