A WIRRAL dad who set up a crowdfunding page to raise cash for a homeless man who helped victims of the Manchester attack has reached more than £30,000 in one day.

Graeme Seddon, a business support manager based at Arrowe Park Hospital was so moved by the actions of Steve Jones that he set up a JustGiving page in the hope of raising £300.

He said: “I was watching TV and it was just the way he came across and he dealt with on that day.

"He mentioned about having to pull nails out of children’s arms and faces.

“I’ve got a little girl myself and it struck a chord with me.

"If he’s going out of his way to help people I felt I should do something to help him with him being homeless."

22 people were killed and 59 people were injured during the attack at the Manchester Arena on Monday.

Talking to ITV News Steve said: “Just because I’m homeless it doesn’t mean that I haven’t got a heart and I’m not human still.

“They needed the help, I’d like to think that someone would come and help me if I needed the help.

“It’s just instinct to go and help, if someone needed your help and it was children and it was a lot of children with blood all over them and crying and screaming.

“We were having to pull nails out of their arms and a couple out of this little girl’s face.

“Some lady she got cut from her side so my mate had to hold her legs up and then an ambulance guy came and a fireman and they assisted after that.

“We just held her legs up because we thought she was just going to bleed right out.

“It had to be done, you had to help, if I didn’t help I wouldn’t be able to live with myself walking away and leaving kids like that.”

Graeme added: “I set it up with the hope of raising £300 to help him get back on his feet.

"It just snowballed.

"I can’t believe the support it has had.

“I’ve already been in contact with homeless charities in Manchester and I’m going to liaise with them to see if I can track him down.

“The first port of call will be him but as I have raised so much I would also like to donate some of the money to some of the homeless charities to help them provide things like clothing.”
