FOUR people were rescued by Hoylake lifeboat volunteers after being cut off by the incoming tide in Meols.

Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team requested the assistance of the RNLI Lifeboat Station on Tuesday night to rescue the group who were around one mile out and were oblivious to the incoming tide near to Dove Point in Meols.

The hovercraft launched and headed towards the casualties who were brought on board by the hovercraft crew.

An RNLI spokesman said: “The group was transported safely to Dove Point slipway before being passed to waiting Wirral Coastguard officers who gave them safety advice.

“Before planning a trip to the beach you must check the tide times and if you see someone in difficulty dial 999 and ask for the Coastgaurd”.
