BOOKS of Condolence will be opened at Wallasey Town Hall and Birkenhead Town Hall later today for people to express their sympathies for the victims of last night's attack at Manchester Arena.

They will be open from noon and then daily from 9am-5pm daily, Monday to Friday.

You can also sign the online Book of Condolence at the following link wirral.gov.uk/tribute/manchester.

Flags at Council buildings are also flyin at half-mast as a sign of respect.

Wirral Council leader Phil Davies said: "The events last night have shocked and appalled us all, particularly as so many children and young people were among the victims.

"Many people in Wirral will be familiar with the MEN Arena as a place of enjoyment, so last night's attack will have a particular resonance with them.

"Our thoughts are with the friends and family of those who died, or have been injured or traumatised.

"We stand in solidarity with the emergency services and the people of Manchester, who responded outstandingly when they were needed most.

"As near neighbours, we offer whatever support we can as they recover from this terrible event".
