CRITICALLY-acclaimed Wirral band She Drew The Gun were crowned GIT Award winners at the 10th anniversary celebrations for music website, Getintothis.

Fronted by Louisa Roach from Eastham the band took home the sixth GIT Award prize alongside £1,000 and Parr Street Studios free recording time.

On stage, Louise said: "This is amazing, I don’t know quite what to say, we’re all delighted and surprised – thanks so much to Getintothis and all the judging panel – it means so much.”

Louisa started writing songs in her bedroom in 2013 under the alias She Drew The Gun and has seen a rapid rise to success in the last 18 months with her now fully formed band winning Glastonbury‘s emerging talent contest to earn a place on the festival line up, touring the globe and release the critically acclaimed debut album Memories of Another Future.

Other honours of the evening saw Jon Davies of Liverpool electronica promoters Deep Hedonia give a passionate speech about this year’s Inspiration Award winners 24 Kitchen Street.

Following in the footsteps of The Kazimier, Africa Oye and Deltasonic‘s Alan Wills, 24 Kitchen Street venue co-owner Saad Shaffi and staff were on hand to pick up the award for their efforts to fight for music venues which are being closed due to building projects across Liverpool.

Birkenhead youngster Zuzu picked up the 'One to Watch' award following speeches from GIT Award judges Cath Hurley from BME, Aoife Niblock of VMS Live and music journalist Will Fitzpatrick.

A surprise performance from last years GIT Award winner Bill Ryder-Jones made a surprise appearance and performed a solo set of two brand new songs and threw in fan favourite 'Two To Birkenhead'.
