A THIRD man has been arrested by detectives investigating the explosion that devastated New Ferry in March.

The 65-year-old from Cheshire was arrested this morning, on suspicion of conspiring to commit arson with intent/reckless as to whether life was endangered and an offence under the Fraud Act 2006.

He will be questioned by detectives today.

Earlier this week police arrested two men as part of their investigations.

Both were released pending further investigations.

The cause of the blast which resulted in 33 people being injured and several buildings destroyed or badly damaged is still under investigation.
