A NEW pharmacy in West Kirby has been officially opened by the Mayor of Wirral Pat Hackett.

The new pharmacy premises have been refurbished and dramatically improved to reflect the Hub pharmacy’s modern approach to community health and offer a range of extra healthcare services to people in West Kirby.

The pharmacy also includes a travel clinic service providing expert advice and vaccinations to anyone travelling overseas without needing an appointment.

Welsh’s pharmacy manager Fiona Hazon said: “Myself and my team are really proud to be working in our new, purpose built pharmacy.

“As a Pharmacist, it is really important to feel you are giving the best advice and service you can to patients and one thing that can really help patients feel as though you are looking after them is by having nice, clean professional surroundings, and a comfortable consultation room to chat to them in private.

“We have had a lot of compliments on the new store from our existing patients and also a lot of new patients which is great.

"We are also able to offer more services as our consultation room is much bigger and we have had a lot of interest in our new travel clinics.

"If anyone is due to travel further afield pop in and see if we can help you get ready for your trip."

During the opening event Welsh’s pharmacy was joined by a representative from Maggie’s Merseyside, a charity which provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends.

Fiona and the pharmacy team then presented Maggie’s Merseyside with a cheque for £686 raised through a recent book sale.

A spokeswoman from Maggies Merseyside said: “We say a BIG thank you to Welsh’s Pharmacy in West Kirby.

"At their opening on Monday May 8 they presented us with a rather large cheque for £686 which will support hundreds of people affected by cancer."
