A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply ecstasy in Moreton.

Police confirmed the arrest follows teenagers being admitted to hospital after suffering reactions from ecstasy in recent weeks.

On April 29 two 14-year-old boys suffered adverse reactions and were admitted to hospital. then on May 3, two girls, one aged 15 the other 16, were admitted suffering similar symptoms.

A 39-year-old man from Seacombe was taken to a police station to be questioned and has been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Paul Lamb said: "We want people, regardless of their age, to think twice before they take drugs - it is not only illegal to buy and sell drugs, but taking illegal substances can also be very dangerous and potentially fatal.

"People taking these drugs don’t know what’s in them, where they’ve come from or what effects they may have.

"Thankfully on this occasion, everyone has made a full recovery, but there are significant risks with any drug misuse, especially when it involves drugs bought off the streets from unregulated sources.

"The effects of drugs are not always immediately apparent or can be delayed.

"This can sometimes result in people taking more in order to speed up the effects.

"This can have devastating results."

He added: "We are asking people to use their common sense and not to take illegal, unregulated drugs and I would urge anyone who is in possession of these tablets to hand them into police or a medical practitioner immediately."
