A LIFELONG Tranmere Rovers fan has the chance to fly from Sydney to watch his team at Wembley - all thanks to online donations.

Brad Gregory originally from Oxton moved to Australia early this year giving up his Rovers season ticket of 21 years.

However now that the club is set to go head-to-head against Forest Green Rovers in the National League play-off final on Sunday, Brad needed to raise £1,000 for flights to and from London in order to see his favourite team play.

Brad said: “Since Tranmere Rovers’ last tasted notable success, 114 out of the other 115 teams in the top five divisions of English football have either been promoted or won a trophy.

“I’ve witnessed three relegations and countless heartbreaks.

“My earliest childhood memory is my grandad chuckling as Marc Bosnich broke Rovers’ hearts in the Coca-Cola Cup in 1994.

“So obviously the year I decide to up-sticks and move to the other side of the planet, the club decides to accumulate a record points total, reach a cup semi-final and on Sunday head to Wembley with a very real chance of promotion.

“Here I am, sat in Sydney with the prospect of missing this once-in-a-lifetime event.”

Brad offered to do whatever it takes to raise cash for his trip including streaking during the national anthem.

He added: “What this lacks in sex appeal, it more than makes up for in tragedy.

“48 gnarly hours on a plane for a game of fifth tier football.

“There’s a story to be told here about love and desperation, one that only exists in the relationships between a man and his one true love.

“Basically I’m selling my soul for a return flight to London next week.

“Fly out Friday after work and fly back Sunday after the game.

“Any help you can offer, whether it be paid work, sharing with friends advice or a small donation you’d never know the depth of my gratitude.

“It’s a long shot but I have to try something.”

Brad has now raised more than £1,200 for his round the world trip with thanks to the kind hearted supporters from across the globe.

He said: “I’m utterly blown away by the support my begging letter has received so far.

“I will message people individually but for everyone who has shared or supported it, thank you.

“It’s truly as beautiful as it is ridiculous.”
