ASHVILLE capped an excellent week's work after they retained the prestigious Cheshire County FA Amateur Cup.

It followed a disciplined 2-0 victory over Carlsberg West Cheshire League Division Two rivals, Neston Nomads, at Vauxhalls.

Goals either side of the half from Perrie Black and Sam Hunt assured John Graham's side victory and proved the icing on the cake, after the Wallasey outfit were crownd Doivision Two champions last Monday, when a Jake Prescott header clinched all three points at Maghull Reserves.

Best wishes also to Cheshire County FA, represented by Ashville, who lock horns with the West Riding FA, represented by Beeston St Anthony on Saturday, May 13 in the ANC Northern Counties Final.

It was celebration time also for Division One strugglers Helsby, who finished the season on a high when they lifted the Runcorn Senior Cup after a Jack Shaw double was supplemented by a Gaz Gerard effort, in the 3-0 eclipse of Chester & Wirral League counterparts, Orange Athletic.

Congratulations to Mossley Hill Athletic, who claimed the Division One runners-up medals after Elliot Hughes bagged four goals in Saturday's 7-1 rout of Capenhurst Villa.

Sam Allcock, Joe Hornby and Cameron McGann also made the scoresheet, with Ryan Nichol in reply for the hosts.

Honours were shared after a goal from Upton AA's Lee Guiardo was negated by a reply from Maghull's Mike McDonough, and in another stalemate, Paul Connolly, Luke Flanagan, Andy Kingan and Ben Dufton-Kelly were the respective marksmen as West Kirby finished 2-2 with Heswall.

In Division Two, Andy Seddon was a two goal star who shone in Bootle Res' 2-0 result at Willaston, but a goal from Vauxhall Motors Res' Alex Griffiths failed to prevent his side from going down 2-1 at Maghull Res, who had Mark Maddon and Patrick Nevilleon target.

Elswhere, Heswall Res went down 4-1 at home to Kirkby Town Railway.

Saturday's Division Three action saw Capenhurst Villa Res edge nearer the runners-up medals after Iain Forster bagged the game's only goal at City of Liverpool Res.

In contrast, goals were the order of the day at the Wirral Tennis Centre, after Mersey Royal scored six times through Dean Nunn (2) Andy Owen, Chris Byrne, Ben Stockton and Dean Thomas but still went home empty handed.

Replies from Nathan Mapletoft (3), Sam Spidgeon (2), Sam Pickering (2), Phil Hopkins and Mike Murray inspired Chester visitors Upton AA to a 9-6 victory.

Youth Division champions, South Liverpool Youth, concluded their league programme with an emphatic win at Princes Villa Youth, Luke Wilson (3), Mike Kielty and Luke Walsh applying the finishing touches in a 5-1 triumph.

Kane Welding netted for Vauxhall Motors Youth but it was visitors Mossley Hill Ath Youth who profited 2-1, courtesy of a smart double from John Ward.

In midweek, Mossley won the Youth Plate Final after they overcame Maghull Town Youth 3-0 with goals from Saen Dove, Isaac Kamara and Keanan Abdi.

Applications are invited for the post of team manager at Mallaby FC for their 2017/18 campaign.

The club plays on the 3G at the Wirral Tennis Centre and interested parties can call either Tommy Kenny on 07926 390378 or Ernie McDonald (07518695541) as soon as possible.
