Bandmember Eric Whitby explained: "I lost my lovely sister Carole to cancer in the summer of 2016. She left us in the peaceful surroundings of Woodlands Hospice, Liverpool.

"The palliative care she, our family and Carole's friends received at Woodlands was second to none and we thank them for it.

"To show our appreciation, I decided to try to raise funds for Woodlands Hospice and for Claire House Children's Hospice.

"It was because of my experience at Woodlands that I became aware of Claire House.

"I was greatly moved and astonished by the work and dedication of all connected with this amazing place on the Wirral.

"It was then that the idea of the Brokenheadbangers came to mind".
