DOGS Trust veteran Gizmo is eager to find his forever family.

The nine-year-old Jack Russell Cross is very active for his age and would suit a home with children over the age of 15.

He's well trained and could be a great companion for someone looking for a pet.

A spokeswoman for Dogs Trust Merseyside said: “Gizmo is a very active boy for his 9 years, thanks to a lifetime of long walks in the Welsh hills.

"He may be looking for a quieter retirement home now but he will still walk for hours at a time.

"He goes to the local country park with volunteers and likes to explore everywhere.

"He is a pleasant little chap who still has lots to offer and will make a wonderful companion for someone.

"Gizmo gets along well with other dogs, though surprisingly he hasn't come across that many in his life.

"He is better suited to a quieter environment these days, so a home with children aged over 15.

"He doesn’t mind being left alone for a few hours, particularly after one of his long walks, and is perfectly well behaved when by himself.”
