Visiting remains banned at Arrowe Park Hospital's main building due to a norovirus outbreak
Visiting to the main hospital site has been suspended since last Thursday.
A review was held today and it has been decided to keep the ban in place.
The position will be reviewed again on Wednesday.
Director of nursing and midwifery Gaynor Westray said: “It is with regret that we have had to suspend visiting to the main building of Arrowe Park Hospital.
"This is not a decision we take lightly but is always in the best interests of our patients.
"We are asking people to please bear with us while we are dealing with this current outbreak.
“We appreciate this may upset some family and friends but hope that loved ones will understand that this is in the best interests of our patients.
"People are also advised not to come into the Emergency Department if they have had symptoms of Norovirus, such as sickness and diarrhoea within the last 48 hours, unless it is a genuine emergency.
"Our medical teams are working tirelessly to provide our patients with the best possible care and priority must be given to those in most urgent need.
“I would like to thank people for their patience while we care for our patients at this time.”
Those who have symptoms are asked to remain at home and take the following steps:
- Take plenty of fluids
- Wash your hands regularly
- Keep away from others – especially from GP surgeries or hospitals
If symptoms continue for more than two days, seek advice from NHS 111 by calling 111 or visit the NHS Choices website (www.nhs.uk)
