A NEW family attraction has arrived at New Brighton – the town’s own ferris wheel.

Situated in front of Fort Perch Rock the 50m tall ride is part of new attraction the New Brighton Village from Bold Management limited.

Originally based in Edinburgh, the wheel opened for the first time at Easter weekend and offers stunning views of Wirral’s skyline.

Visitors to the attraction believe it is a positive step for the area.

Weasked passers-by at the resort what they thought..

John Smith from Wallasey said: "The fact that it could stay till October is brilliant.

"New Brighton is a great place to go but this will bring so many people to the area especially when the weather gets better."

Glenn Fairclough-Lowry said: "I love it.

"It's part of a seaside resort and adds to the attraction of New Brighton even if only for the summer time."

Alison Pover said: "I love it and it will bring lots of visitors to New Brighton which will boost all the local businesses."

And Sarah Beddall said: "It's a nice way to attract people but it takes up half the car park so there's less space for those people who have been attracted to park."

The Big Wheel will be open seven days a week and depending on demand, could be at the site in New Brighton until October.

With support from Wirral Council and New Brighton Coastal Community Team, New Brighton Village is now set to move to phase two with two additional thrill rides, art and artisan outlets, an urban beach and a weekend live music stage.

Managing director Martin O’Shea said: "For us The New Brighton Village is all about celebrating the best of New Brighton, the community and its history as an iconic summer family destination.

"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Wirral Council and New Brighton Coastal Community Team.

"The support that we have received from them has been invaluable in bringing this into reality.

"I am confident that The New Brighton Village will compliment the already high standard of offers in New Brighton.

"We will work closely with existing partners and stakeholders to seamlessly bring a brand new experience to the town.”
