DETECTIVES searching for the convicted murderer Shaun Walmsley are continuing to appeal to members of the public.

Walmsley, of Wallace Street, Walton, is currently serving a minimum 30-year sentence for his part in the murder of Anthony Duffy.

The 28-year-old killer fled from outside Aintree University Hospital on Tuesday, February 21k as he was getting into a car with prison officers.

Merseyside Police said two men believed to be armed with a gun and a knife assisted his escape.

Walmsley has been at large ever since. Last month detectives offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to his recapture.

Officers are appealing for anyone who thinks they may have mobile phone footage taken on the day of his escape, or has any information about where he may currently be located, to get in touch.

To date a total of 10 people have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice. All have been released pending a disposal decision.

Detective Superintendent Natalie Perischine said: “I would appeal to anyone who thinks they have mobile phone footage, or photographs, which they believe could help the investigation to get in touch.

"There has been a lot of publicity around the escape and people may not think what they have is useful, but it could be exceptionally valuable.

“The Easter break is also a time when a lot of families go on holiday, both in the UK and abroad, and I would urge people to take another look at Walmsley’s photograph in case they see someone fitting his description.

“I want to reassure the public that Merseyside Police is committed to establishing Walmsley’s whereabouts.

"There is currently a reward of £20,000 on offer for information leading to the apprehension of Walmsley and his return to prison.”

Officers are reminding the public not to approach Walmsley if they see him, as he could be in the company of the others who helped him escape and they are believed to be armed.

Walmsley himself is also described as dangerous.

Officers would ask anyone who may come into contact with Walmsley, to contact the police on 999.

Anyone who may have any information which could help with the investigation are asked to contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
