CONNOR Jennings said he was 'buzzing' to have scored a hat-trick in Tranmere's 9-0 destruction of Solihull Moors on Saturday at Prenton Park.

But the former Wrexham midfielder was quick to insist that all that really mattered was the win and Rovers' continuing quest to hunt down Lincoln City.

Jennings' second half triple followed three goals in the opening 45 minutes from striker Cole Stockton, as red hot Rovers ran riot.

And Jennings revealed that manager Micky Mellon had instructed his side to ruthlessly demolish sorry Solihull at the interval.

He told the Globe: "The gaffer just said keep going, don't stop at nothing. We certainly did that.

"He went 'don't stop now'.

"It's easier just to relax with the sun and all the fans bouncing. We've still got a job to be done.

"We tried to keep the pace up at all times.

"We were pressing when we didn’t have the ball.

"We certainly made it difficult for them".

The crushing victory kept Rovers' chase for the title on track and significantly narrowed the goal difference between Tranmere and leaders Lincoln to just three goals.

Jennings was full of positivity for the run in, adding: "I don't think anyone's thinking about the play-offs at this moment.

"We're all very focused on that top spot and we’re working hard to try and make that possible.

"As long as we keep winning, the pressure's on Lincoln.

"We'll just keep enjoying it and working hard and hopefully they'll slip up.

"There's such a good feeling between the fans and the players.

"It's going around the club, which is fantastic to see and feel.

"They're keeping us going.

"The results are showing.

"Hopefully that support will continue and we can win the league with them.

"We're full of confidence.

"I don't think there are any easy games now. Every one is massive, but our heads are fully focused".
