A 14-year-old girl was taken to hospital after a blaze broke out in a flat in New Ferry.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a high-pressure hose to extinguish the fire which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Firefighters were called to the flat at Field Close around noon on Sunday.
The teenager had managed to get out of the property before emergency services arrived.
She was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital by paramedics for further checks.
The living room of the ground-floor flat was destroyed by fire.
The hall, stairs and landing were damaged by heat and smoke.
