A woman was taken to hospital suffering the effects of smoke from an overloaded fireplace at a property in Caldy. 

Firefighters were called to Kings Drive just before 5.30am on Sunday, February 26.

Three appliances attended the incident which involved an open fireplace that had been overloaded.

Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the area.

A woman was assessed at the scene by paramedics and taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for further checks.

The lounge of the property was damaged by smoke.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around 45 minutes.
