TRANMERE Rovers are preparing for what promises to be a challenging away game against Eastleigh this weekend.
Micky Mellon's side, currently fourth on the table with 57 points, drew 2-2 against plucky Bromley at Prenton Park on Saturday.
Eastleigh are 13th on the table with 42 points and haven't won a league game so far this year.
During a press conference at the club's Solar Campus training ground in Leasowe this afternoon, Rovers' boss Mellon said he was looking forward to Saturday's game at the Silverlake Stadium.
Assessing their opponents, he said: "All the challenges are tough, for different reasons.
"Eastleigh are a very strong team and we have a long journey ahead of us as well, but whatever questions the game asks of us, we have to be able to answer them.
"We will go down there to get a result, the players are a very confident group so we'll try and put a game plan together that gives us every chance of getting a result.
"We have a rough idea of how we believe the game will go, but like every manager we'll guess at that and hope to get that right as much as possible but also adapt if we need to.
"We have watched Eastleigh and have scouting reports on them.
"Eastleigh will be keen to kick-start something and we’ll be keen to pick up points.
"We've just got to concentrate on us being good at what we do, regardless of who we’re playing."
The game kicks off a busy period for the squad, who have seven games in the space of three weeks and are in action against Boreham at Prenton Park on Tuesday.
Mellon continued: "We're moving into a very busy period coming up and if there is an appetite for Tuesday night football, we'll certainly fill that because there is an awful lot of games coming up.
"You get prepared the best you can. Generally, certainly since I’ve been here, the lads have done very, very well.
"There have been moments that we haven’t been happy with, but that's the same for every team.
"So we'll just keep working hard on the training pitch as we have been doing, trying to improve things and the lads are very receptive to that.
"It's an important period, but what I will say is we're really enjoying our football and very much looking forward to the challenges."
