FLORISTS have been seen as a thing of the past but Heswall’s latest new business Leaf Flowers is set to change current opinion.

Owners Linda Cleary and Danielle Storton have had the idea of Leaf Flowers for what seems like a lifetime and on Thursday, January 19 their dream became a reality when the shop opened its doors to the public.

Creating a more personal approach to flowers and events the business wants to beat competitors by offering a realistic and reassuring service to cater for different celebrations.

Linda, 43, from Wallasey told the Globe: “There’s an awful lot online but we specialise in a bespoke service. We have a consultation room in Leaf Flowers which we only decided to do from past experience.

“This introduces a more sensitive side, giving a moment for the customer to have time for themselves and be comfortable. In the room we will show a slideshow of photographs with ideas and previous examples of our work so people can look at them and decide what they want plus it’ll allow us to provide more time for people and tailor our service to them.

“We want to make sure our customers aren’t just a ‘tick box’ on a website, we want the experience of Leaf Flowers to be more imaginative and personal.

“We’ve got plenty of business coming through already and we haven’t opened our doors. We’ve even travelled to Yorkshire for a wedding and next year we’ve been asked to go to Italy.

“This shop has been a bit of a daydream for us, we’ve both worked in Heswall for a while now and it was mad trying to get a grip of what people wanted us to do and we were imagining what we could do if the opportunity arises - we have such a good location, we’re right by prime wedding venues it’s a dream come true.”

“It has been fun taking radiators off and decorating it ourselves, it makes it feel so much more personal and rewarding, it’s been tiring but we’ve done it all from scratch together doing things like designing the furniture and fittings for the shop and every day we’re adding something else or thinking about another idea.

“It’s going to be a very exciting year for us, we already have weddings up to two years from now so we’re going to plod on here and hope for the best.”
