A Wirral trampolining champion is preparing to top her successes of last year after winning three national titles.

Megan Cummins, 15, is currently studying for her GCSEs at Birkenhead High School academy but has managed to top the rankings across the UK in her sport - three times over.

At 13 she flew to Denmark to represent Great Britain in the 2015 World Age Group Championships and last year won national titles including English champion, British champion and women’s superleague national champion.

Training at Propulsion in Birkenhead, Megan puts hours of training into trampolining and has confessed it can be hard work but through perseverance she is determined to go back to the World Championships once again and become the world number one in mini-trampolining.

Megan, from Birkenhead told the Globe: “It all started off when I went to youth club with my friends and decided to have a bit of fun on a trampoline and then my now coach Andy Wild stopped and told me I was good and whether I’d ever considered taking it up full-time. He’s inspiring and has helped push me to greater things.

“Training is tough, I must cry to my mum everyday - some people don’t understand how hard it is working towards competitions and keeping up with my training nearly every day. I wouldn’t change it though.

“This year my goal is to repeat my titles and stay on top. In the future my goal is to go on to senior’s which is a hard competition to get into then go to the world championships.

“My toughest competition was when I went to Denmark for the British Championships, there was a lot riding on it so it was challenging.

“Trying to juggle school work is really hard, I get in trouble a little for not having homework in on time but my school is really understanding and supportive. We’re even looking at doing an athletes timetable so I can get my GCSEs while training and competing.

“It’s a really social sport and the club has such a great atmosphere and everyone wants you to do well and it works.”
