ROAD closures are in place and buildings have been evacuated in Liverpool city centre after a major gas leak.
Merseyside Police along with with fire and rescue and electrical and gas representatives are in attendance on Moss Street.
Officers were called at around 2pm after reports a gas line had been broken during electrical work.
Police set up a cordon 50 metres around the breach.
Some 20 buildings have been evacuated so far.
There is no estimated time for the removal of the road closures and evacuations.
Officers thanked members of the public and motorists for their co-operation at this time.
