A 45-YEAR-OLD man was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation and taken to hospital for checks following a blaze at a Wirral takeaway.
Firefighters were called to a premises in Crofton Road, Tranmere in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Two fire engines attended the incident, which involved a pan of oil on fire in a ground floor kitchen.
Crews found the fire was out on arrival and dampened down the area using a hose reel jet. They then proceeded to ventilate the area.
A pan and a quantity of oil was severely damage by fire. The kitchen was severely damaged by fire and smoke and the remainder of the property damaged by smoke.
Crews carried out a home fire safety check and fitted a new smoke alarm.
They remained at the scene for more than an hour.
