Four Wirral community projects have received more than £236,000 between them as part of their share of £2.2m from the Big Lottery Fund.

The cash will support a range of projects based in in Birkenhead.

The fab four are:

Happy Times Community Project receives £209,600.

Established in 2011 and based in Birkenhead the scheme works with older people and adults with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and mental health issues as well as young women from disadvantaged backgrounds.

They run activities ranging from relaxation sessions and yoga therapy, to sensory experiences and musical movement classes.

The funding will enable the project to continue their work, whilst also running these sessions from home for their service users, as well as in care setting and activity centres.

Ella Network Community Leaders Plus gets £10,000.

The Birkenhead group will use their funding to provide a community support programme for up to 30 local social leaders.

This will improve leadership of local voluntary organisations.

BeeWirral Community Interest Company has been given £6,990.

Founded in 2013 provide services to support families in making positive choices so that they can improve their own life chances.

Their project "Easy IT" will provide a drop-in service where two trained volunteers will provide digital online training, support with job searches and signposting to other helper agencies.

This will allow the local community to learn new IT skills as well as increase their confidence and employability.

And Woodslee Primary School's Adventure Trails Project has been granted £9,900.

The project will use the funding to install two adventure trails which will enable children to access a play area to develop their physical and communication skills.

This will provide an outdoor facility aimed at increasing and developing physical activity and social skills.
