TICKETS are now available for a spring rock and roll night in aid of Wirral Holistic Cancer Care Service taking place later this year.

It will be held at Heswall British Legion in Pensby Road, Heswall, on Friday March 24.

Providing the musical accompaniment will be Mike Bryne & The Sunrockers and guest guitarist Peter Anyon.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm, are £6, including light refreshments.

Pensby Community Association’s first meeting of the year takes place on Wednesday, January 25.

It will be held at Pensby Library, starting at 7pm.

History Quiz

West Kirby Museum's fourth annual history quiz will be held later this month.

It takes place at St Bridget’s Centre in St Bridget’s Lane, West Kirby on Friday, January 27.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Asking the questions will be Peter Ryan. Admission is £5, including refreshments, wine available.

All proceeds to St Bridget's Church Improvements Fund.

Play Baroque

String players will have a chance to explore the secrets of Baroque string music during a special event next month.

Organised by the 18th Century Concert Orchestra, it takes place on Saturday, February 18 at Christ Church in King's Road, Higher Bebington.

Learn to play stylistically on your modern instruments. There will be Baroque bows for your to try. There will be music by Geminiani, Corelli and more.

The session, running from 10am-4pm, costs £40 to take part.

Carters of Liverpool

Sharon Brown, the Curator of land transport and industry for National Museums Liverpool is Bebington Family History Society's guest when it meets a week on Monday, January 23.

She will talk about the role played by carters and their horses in the development of Liverpool as a port. Taking place at Bebington Civic Centre, the meeting starts at 7.30pm.

Fresh perspectives

The artwork of Students from four Wirral high schools features in a display opening at the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight later this week.

Running from this Friday (January 20) until May 1, the Fresh Perspectives display features pieces created by GCSE and A-level students from South Wirral High School, St John Plessington Catholic College in Bebington, Prenton High School for Girls and Weatherhead High School, Wallasey.

Film time

Hoylake Community Cinema will screen the 2015 documentary He Named Me Malala later this month.

Directed by Davis Guggenheim it is about then 18-year old Pakistani activist and youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai.

The film will be shown at Hoylake Parade community centre in Hoyle Road, Hoylake on Friday, January 27.

There will be licensed bar and fresh food. Doors open 6.30 and film starts at 7.30pm.

Theatre historian

Ray O’Brien will talk about Liverpool Comedians as Heswall National Trust Association’s guest when it meets this Wednesday, January 18.

The event at Heswall Hall starts at 2.30pm. Admission is £3.50.

Candlelight concert

Work by Vivaldi, Corelli and Handel will be performed by the 18th Century Concert Orchestra in a special candlelit concert next month.

Wearing period costume, the musicians will play on instruments of the time during the show on Saturday, February 18.

It takes place at Christ Church in King's Road. Higher Bebington at 7.30pm.

A dance exercise class takes place at Guide Headquarters in Leasowe Road, Wallasey every Thursday afternoon. It starts at 2.15pm.

Past pupils of Rock Ferry School are invited to a reunion charity night taking place later this month.

It will be held at Port Sunlight Lyceum Club on Saturday, January 28, from 6.30pm.

Sit to get fit

Chair-based exercise sessions for health and fitness suitable for all abilities take place at Moreton Presbyterian Church in Moreton every Monday.

RAF Band concert

The RAF College Band return to the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton with a Valentines Day-themed concert in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal next month.

The concert, on February 12, will feature romantic music ranging from ballads and film music to marches and features Royal Air Force Swing Wing.

The band’s 40 members will perform under the leadership of its musical director, Flight Lieutenant Richard Murray.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and there will be further entertainment and information stands about the Royal British Legion – which was founded in Birkenhead, War Wrecks, the Royal Air Force Association and the local Air Cadets during the intermission.

SingMe

Choir Billy Hui and his SingMe Merseyside Choir will perform in a charity music night in the community centre Christ Church in Higher Bebington this Friday, January 20.

Featuring more than 200-plus members, the group was among the first recipients of Wirral Globe Arts Ambassadors Awards last month.

This Friday's concert at Christ Church starts at 7.30pm.
