SUPPORTERS of a Wirral cancer charity have raised more than £100,000 after a year packed with activities.

Maggie’s Merseyside, based in Clatterbridge Cancer Care Centre, provides free practical, emotional and social support to people who have been affected by cancer and has been visited more than 20,000 times since opening its doors in 2014.

Fundraising events such as zumbathons, sponsored head shaving, the Culture Crawl Liverpool, a 10km night walk around Liverpool city centre and a 170 mile static bike ride cross-country all raised thousands of pounds for Maggie’s.

Businesses such as Sainsbury’s Chester chose Maggie’s as their local charity of the year while in November BBC’s Children In Need Appeal show featured a film about the charity and all the work that it does for families who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Centre head at Maggie’s Kathy Wright said: “Thank you to our amazing team of volunteers, supporters and donors who have helped keep our doors open for 12,000 visits this year.

“Whether you have given your time, taken part in an event, made a donation or fundraised on our behalf you have helped us support thousands of people affected by cancer.

“This is an incredible team effort and we’re so grateful for your support.”
