MERSEYSIDE Police say no further action is to be taken against a man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering Wirral mother-of-two Anita Stevenson.

And a force spokesman confirmed the appeal for witnesses to come forward has now been closed.

Anita’s body was found by a passerby in an area of woodland at Bromborough on November 26.

She had been missing from her home in Tranmere since October 18.

Results of toxicology tests carried out during a post mortem examination have been delayed.

A 41-year-old man was arrested and quizzed by detectives on November 2.

He was released pending further inquiries the next day.

Anita's friends and family had organised searches and set up a social media page in the hope of finding her.

After the discovery of her body a short statement was released saying: "We as a family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the great amount of support we received from you all, from well wishers, sharing posts, tips that came in, to actually going out looking for her.

"We cannot thank you all enough for sharing the love for my sister, she was an amazing woman and loved by so many, you all showed how many people's hearts she touched, so from us all...Thank you."
