Bosses at a company sponsoring Wirral’s new Hive Youth Zone have taken a tour of the under-construction site.

B&M Waste Services is the latest recruit to support the centre and will have its trucks decked out in Youth Zone branding.

Due for completion in February, the newly-built facility on Exmouth Street, Birkenhead, aims to attract young people from across the borough to join in a galaxy of activities including music and media, sport, fitness and dance.

It will also give them the chance to learn important life skills- and could lead to work placement opportunities with its businesses sponsors.

B&M director Dave Curtis said: “Ensuring the young people of Wirral have a brighter future we are putting our full support behind the Youth Zone, not only by donating a revenue contribution but by spreading the word about it across the borough with dedicated branding about the new facility on our trucks.

“We are a family run business with roots deeply seeded across Wirral. This much needed facility will be a wonderful opportunity to support the youth of our community, who are the businesses leaders of the future.”

When the centre opens next April, Wirral schools will be invited to come along to try out new facilities such as a roof-top five-a-side pitch, a skate park and recording studio.

Hive general manager Stuart Barnes said: “We wanted to keep our supporters up to date with progress, hence the site tour.

“We’re very proud of all that has been achieved so far and we are on target for opening.

“We are truly grateful to all our capital and revenue supporters.

“Without their backing and support this project could not become a reality for Wirral’s young people.”
