TRANMERE Rovers' manager Micky Mellon is aiming for his second win in charge when they face Solihull Moors in national league action tomorrow.

Rovers - currently seventh on the table with 27 points from 15 games - were knocked out of the FA Cup qualifier by Barrow last week.

Solihull are 14th on the table with 19 points from 15 matches.

During a press conference at Prenton Park, Mellon said his squad had done its homework and knew what to expect from Moors at The Automated Technology Group Stadium tomorrow.

He added: "We know that Solihull will try and play out from the back.

"We know who their dangerous players are and what shapes they play in so we'll have the intelligence we need about them."

Midfielder Jeff Hughes is back in the squad after suspension while midfielders Jake Kirby and Adam Mekki have trained normally following injuries, to put themselves in contention.

Striker James Norwood returned to light training on Thursday and his fitness will be assessed after a recent absence with a groin injury.

Defender Michael Ihiekwe will be missing after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season last weekend.

It's two weeks since Mellon was appointed manager. In that time he, along with his coaching staff and the players have been busy in training working on the best ways to play.

He continued: "There is a group here that is contracted to the club.

"It's my job to try and quickly find a system and a way of playing that system that suits the group and gives us the best chance of winning matches.

"With the qualities that we have in the group, we'll work hard on that system and the different scenarios that you come across in games.

"But sitting here now, I am confident that we have a way of playing and a plan B if we need to go to that, that gives us a good opportunity to pick up points.

"Last week, Jake Kirby and Adam Mekki had only trained on the Friday before the game which was why we started with just Andy Cook up front against Barrow."

During the press conference, defender Lois Maynard said his fellow players were in a positive frame of mind ahead of Saturday's game.

He continued: "Solihull have had a good start to their first season in this division but we'll be going there to win the game.

"We need to start winning games as soon as possible, especially with the new manager, it's important to get winning habits."

Maynard recently returned from international duty with St Kitts & Nevis and says it's an experience which is benefiting his game.

He added: "The international football has broadened my horizons.

"It's a different manager from a different background with different ideas.

"You can always learn from different people and I think it has helped my game, and also playing centre back for them has helped developed my understanding of positional sense on the pitch."
