TWO people were checked by paramedics following a crash near the Wallasey Tunnel this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision involving two vans on the M53 northbound carriageway between junctions one and two just after 3.50pm.
A 76-year-old woman and a 45-year-old male were checked by paramedics but did not require further medical treatment.
Fire crews made the scene safe and assisted with traffic management.
The M53 motorway was closed between junctions one and two while firefighters and the Highways Agency remove debris from the road.
All lanes have been re-opened.
The incident is affecting traffic heading from Birkenhead towards the Wallasey Tunnel.
