TRANMERE Rovers are training for what promises to be a tough game against league leaders Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.

During a press conference at Prenton Park this afternoon, coach Shaun Garnett said he was pleased with the response from the players in last Saturday's 3-1 win over Woking at Prenton Park, but added more work needed to be done before the squad could be considered 'the finished article'.

Two goals from Andy Cook and one from James Norwood saw off the Surrey side. It was their first victory in five games.

During this afternoon's press conference, Garnett said: "I thought players conducted themselves in the right way on Saturday, everything they did was positive and we could have scored four or five goals.

"Are we finished article? No. But we're not that far behind.

"Our aim as a Club is promotion and we're still going for that.

"Saturday was great to get the three points, but that's gone and we move on and look forward to Dagenham on Saturday.

"It's going to be a tight game, we have to get some points from Dagenham."

Five players were missing from Paul Carden's squad last weekend, but Garnett hopes one or two may be available for this weekend's trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.

He added: "Jake Kirby is going to train tomorrow and we're hopeful that Jay Harris or Adam Mekki might be available to be in and around the squad for the weekend but we have to wait and see how things go with them this week."
