THE widow of former Everton manager Howard Kendall is one of two new ambassadors appointed by Wirral children's charity Stick 'n' Step.

Lily Kendall, from Formby, has been bestowed with the honour for her hard work, support and commitment over a number of years.

She said it was a fitting tribute to Howard, who died last October aged 69, adding: "Howard was a huge supporter of Stick 'n' Step during his lifetime and I feel that it is a fitting tribute to continue his good work."

Also appointed is fellow Formby resident Neil Lofthouse, whose son attended Stick ‘n’ Step.

A huge advocate of the charity since its early days, Neil (pictured, below) has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the charity over the years dedicated a lot of effort into helping to make the charity’s Formby shop the success it was.

Wirral Globe:

He said: "Stick 'n' Step has been an important part of the Lofthouse’s family life for over 13 years.

"We have had so much support and friendship from the team there and we feel it is important to be able to give something back.

"I feel very honoured to be asked to be an Ambassador for the life-changing work that it does, and I am looking forward to continuing to champion the charity in the future."

Liscard-based Stick 'n' Step provides support services to children with cerebral palsy and their families.

The charity works with more than 70 children, allowing them to gain the skills they need to live independent lives through conductive education sessions.

Sarah Smithson, its operations manager, said the appointment of Lily and Neil signifies the continuation of its strong relationship with the Formby and Liverpool area.

She added: "We are thrilled to welcome Neil and Lily even further into the Stick 'n' Step family and we feel very proud that they have accepted our invitation to be Ambassadors.

"Our involvement with Neil and his family goes back many years and we are pleased to strengthen this connection.

"Neil also originally introduced us to Howard Kendall and we are delighted that Lily, his wife, will be carrying on the support that her late husband Howard Kendall gave in abundance to Stick 'n' Step throughout his involvement with us."
