AFTER posting a narrow 1-0 result over Mallaby in midweek reigning Carlsberg West Cheshire League Division One champions South Liverpool continued to get their act together and were elevated to fifth place in the table following Saturday's 3-0 triumph at Maghull.

Fraser Ablett, Kevin Martin and Wayne Smith were on target as South maintained their pursuit of a third successive title.

Ninety minutes failed to produce a goal between current leaders Capenhurst Villa and local rivals Heswall, while efforts from Helsby's Adam Collins and Danny Cummins were negated by replies from West Kirby's Wisdom Machanghni and Mike Cummins.

In another epic stalemate, Mallaby had Mark Head, Joey Basnett and Callum Morrison on target but Danny Baird, Ollie Sanderson and John McNamara struck to earn Mossley Hill Athletic a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, Robbie McDonald's goal failed to prevent Redgate Rovers from losing 2-1 at the hands of Rainhill Town.

Colm Lynch bagged both goals for the visitors.

Division Two leaders Marshalls scored via Wade Maxwell and Lucas Porquet but dropped two points after they finished 2-2 with Bootle Reserves who hit back through Jake Preston and Callum Malone.

Vauxhall Motors Reserves savoured a 3-1 win at Heswall Reserves, courtesy of a goal apiece from Charlie McInnes, Joe Brandon and Owen Duffy.

Steve Prance scored for the hosts.

Reggie Royes and Dave Mee netted for South Liverpool Reserves but honours were shared with Neston Nomads after goals from Paul Ellison and Paul Marrs restored parity.

Division Three action saw leaders Ellesmere Port Town retain pole position despite finishing 0-0 with Upton AA Reserves and that result enabled nearest rivals Marshalls Reserves to take closer order, thanks to a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Litherland Remyca Reserves.

Efforts from Lew Whiteley and Suphot Thiamdong helped Cammell Laird 1907 DVLPMNT to a 2-2 draw with Capenhurst Villa Reserves, James Fletcher and Mark Ryan responding for Cape, while a smart double from Ben Pearson was Neston Nomads Reserves' contribution in their 2-2 nail-biter with Chester Nomads Reserves.

Mark Nichol and James Cawl were the visitors’ scorers.

A Tom Quinn effort was supplemented by an own goal as Ashville Reserves accounted for Redgate Rovers Reserves 2-1.

The curtain went up on the Youth Division’s programme at the weekend and quickly into their stride were Maghull Town who beat Ellesmere Port Town Youth 2-1 with goals from Liam Fitzgerald, Joseph Dixon and Jack Copeland.

Local rivals Maghull Youth also had cause for celebration when Dom Rice and Cameron Smith found the net in a 2-1 verdict over Vauxhall Motors Youth.
