ELLESMERE Port FC are the early leaders of the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division after recording back-to-back victories in their opening two games.

On Saturday they travelled to Kelsall, winning 5-3 thanks to goals from Ian Johnson, Mike Newman, Stu Bailey, Rob Horgan and an own goal.

Kelsall scorers were Neil Astbury, John Horton and Matty Edwards.

Blacon Youth FC hosted much- fancied Lodge Bar in their opening game of the season since deciding to join the CWFL from the West Cheshire League.

They got off to a flyer in the first half, leading 2-0 with goals from Sam Davies and Lewis Coppack until second-half strikes by Joe Yates and Scott Boswell gave Lodge Bar a share of the points.

Shaftesbury Youth remain unbeaten after a fine 3-2 home win over MBNA.

MBNA started well and took the lead through an excellent free kick by Gareth Higgins from 25 yards.

Shaftesbury equalised thanks to Danny Smith just before half-time after the MBNA defender failed to clear the cross.

Shaftesbury started well in the second half and controlled the game for 20 minutes, scoring after Steve Roberts had left the MBNA team claiming offside as he put the ball in the net to make it 2-1.

MBNA made it 2-2 after Liam Hett coolly slotted home into the bottom corner when finding space at the back post.

Andy Rafferty got the Shaftesbury winner with five minutes to go after the MBNA keeper dropped the ball after a challenge from an attacking player.

MBNA had two great chances to take something from the game in the last five minutes but could not finish, leaving Shafts to take the spoils on offer.

Higher Bebington Kelma looked to be in fine form as they took a 2-0 lead in the opening five minutes of their game with Ellesmere Port Town Reserves through Mark Lawler and Andy Blakeborough.

Town responded, though, and scored two of their own thanks to Jordan Howley and Sam Cooper, with the game ending 2-2.

AFC Essar are in seventh heaven after a fine 7-0 away win over Whitby Athletic in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One.

Lee Reynolds lead the way with a hat-trick and further goals from Dean Rattcliffe, Jay Johnson, Stu Clark and Tom Vickers put Essar at the top of the pile.

New Ferry Rangers also secured an opening-day victory thanks to goals from Richie Dean, Sam Price and Lawrence Whelan, giving them a 3-1 home win over Clubbies who had James Lehman on target.

Jonathan Williams hit the only goal of the game for Eastham Athletic as they edged past Neston Nomads III 1-0.

Adi Gough showed that there is plenty left in the old legs as he fired a brace for Cestrian Alex in their home game with Franklyn's.

Sadly for him though, it was not enough as Nana Eneh, Paul Connolly and Farris Baker earned Franklyn’s Bar a 3-2 win.

Ash English, Ben McMahon and Mark Brown were all on the scoresheet for Hoole Rangers as they beat FC Uber 3-2. Tom Berry and Jordan Jones replied for Uber.
