THE miraculous recovery of a nine-year-old German Shepherd who was left “squirming in agony” will be featured in Channel 5’s Dog Rescuers.

The story of Reo has been previously covered by the Globe when her owner appeared at Wirral magistrates’ court earlier this month.

She admitted neglecting the animal, whose condition was so severe when she was found, vets considered putting her to sleep.

Reo was found at a house in Wallasey by an RSPCA inspector following reports from concerned members of the public.

When Inspector Anthony Joynes arrived, he found Reo with large open wounds to her ears, jaw and eye, which were believed to have been self-inflicted.

Despite scratching so much that her face was covered in open sores she was still able to muster a wag of the tail.

Thankfully, Reo has surprised everyone by overcoming her injuries and has now found a loving new home.

Her journey will air tonight as part of the programme which follows RSPCA inspectors from across the country as they carry out dramatic rescues.
