SQUEEZE co-founder Glenn Tilbrook is among the host of stars lined-up for Wirral's 28th International Guitar Festival.

He is on stage at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on November 18, as part of the festival which opens on November 4.

It will be a night of his band's greatest hits, including Muscles from a Shell, Up the Junction, Take Me I'm Yours, Slap and Tickle, Goodbye Girl, Another Nail in my Heart, and Tempted as well as solo work.

This year's festival promises a mix classical, folk, jazz, blues and rock music - showing the versatility and prowess of the guitar casts illumination and beauty as well as power and emotion.

Also appearing are Wishbone Ash, Paul Reaney, Pete Asher and British rock and roll legend Albert Lee (pictured, below).

The line-up also includes Joe Brown who has been called many things in his time – rock and roll legend, MBE, rock icon, guitar hero and King of the Ukelele.

Sixties legend Andy Fairweather Low and his band return to Wirral for the International Guitar Festival next month.

The Welsh star – celebrating more than 50 years in music – will be joined by the Low Riders for a show at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on November 10.

Among the 'who's who' of music legends he has worked with over the years are Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, David Crosby, Elton John, BB King, the Bee Gees, Bill Wyman, Sheryl Crow and The Who’s Pete Townshend.

Local acts taking to the stage during the guitar festival include Wirral songwriters Phil Chisnall, Paul Reaney, Jimmy Rae, Gerry Ffrench and John Williams – who will appear perform in an ‘unplugged' concert at the Floral Pavilion on November 6.

As well as their own songs, they will perform covers from stars who influenced their writing.

The concert is described as "a fun evening of blues, country, folk, jazz and contemporary-tinged songs that will delight and entertain".

Other local stars include Wirral Ukulele Orchestra and Gary Murphy, whose Guitar Legends - Classic Movie Anthems show is at the Floral Pavilion on November 19.

Featutring guitar classics from some of the biggest blockbuster movies, the show is narrated by BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Billy Butler.

Gary's special guests include Rob and Alan Fennah, Saxophone Jones, and vocalists Gary Brown and Jade Tremarco.

There will also be a tribute to Fleetwood Mac and Queen and a performance from Liverpool Mozart Orchestra.
