TRANMERE Rovers continued their unbeaten start to the season with 1-0 victory against Boreham Wood last night.

Manager Gary Brabin was pleased with his squad's performance as they picked up another three points and remain at the top of the National League table.

Connor Jennings' 33rd minute strike was the decisive moment of the game and the manager said it was a deserved win.

In an interview on the club's website, Brabin said: "I thought we started quite slowly but we finished the first half strongly and we got a goal and had a grip on the game.

"We had good chances and dealt with their approach well while playing some good stuff at times so it was a disciplined and pleasing performance.

"I am delighted for Connor.

"All his play needed was a goal and we're delighted he got it. It was a cracking strike as well, a really good finish."

Assessing last night's opposition, Brabin said they made things tough for his team, but despite the narrow scoreline, he felt his team were always in control.

He added: "They defended like their lives depended on it and we possibly could have done better with our finishing.

"It was a comfortable win although when it's at 1-0, you can never be comfortable. We were always in control of the game.

"They posed us problems but I thought we dealt with them really well."

Rovers are in action against Maidstone at Prenton Park on Saturday.
