NORTH WEST residents are being urged to take part in a half marathon on behalf of The British Heart Foundation.

The charity is hoping people will have been inspired by the Heart Runners who took part in the Great Yorkshire Run last weekend.

Runner will help to fund vital research into the causes of heart disease, which remains the single biggest killer in the UK.  It is responsible for almost 73,000 deaths each year – that’s over 200 people dying every single day.

Event manager, Helen Wright said: “We’re delighted to be organising our 3rd Harewood House Half Marathon event.

“It promises to be another great occasion and we’re calling on the people of the North West to sign up to help us beat our fundraising target and join the fight against heart disease.

“The event is open to 2000 runners and places are filling fast on this popular event.”

The route is predominantly off road with undulating paths, so is ideal for a new winter fundraising challenge.

The British Heart Foundation Harewood House Half Marathon take place in February with people of all abilities welcome to take part.

Participants will even run through the set of Yorkshire-based television show Emmerdale.

Organisers are hoping this event will raise a vital contribution of £50,000.

Early bird fees for the event are £25 for over 17s and £30 after the January 6.
