Wirral West Community Fund is inviting groups to bid for grants to help improve their area.

Groups, voluntary organisations or social enterprises in the constituency can put forward their schemes and requests for funding which can range from £100 to £1,000.

The bids will then be put to a community vote to decide which projects will receive cash.

Councillor Jeff Green, chairman of the constituency committee, said: "Over the last three years, the community fund has supported dozens of initiatives and projects in all areas of the constituency.

"Grants went towards supporting local community events, allotment societies, friends groups and lunch clubs.

"We also funded support groups, sporting activities, Christmas lights and activities relating to the arts, history and conservation.

"These local projects make a big difference and once again we will be asking residents and communities to show their support for the projects and improvements that matter to them through a community vote."

Last year more than 2,500 people took part in the ballot.

Applications will close at noon on Thursday, September 8, and groups will be required to deliver their projects by the end of October 2017.
