MERSEYSIDE police have released an e-fit of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a rape investigation in Wirral.

Officers from Unity team are investigating the incident which took place on June 7.

A woman reported to officers that at around 5.05pm she was walking along Wallasey Bridge Road in the direction of Mill Lane in Wallasey, when a man on a motorbike pulled over and began talking to her.

He then got off the bike and sexually assaulted her.

The woman left the area on foot and contacted the police.

Unity Detective Inspector Bev Hyland said: "Our enquiries are on-going but we are hoping that someone recognises the e-fit of the man we would like to speak to in connection with our investigation.

"The area where the incident happened would have been very busy at the time with people on their way home from work and we would appeal to anyone who saw anyone who looks like the man pictured to get in touch.

"We are also keen for anybody who saw a man travelling on a motorbike with L plates on and wearing helmet which had red markings on it, at around this time to get in contact.

"The victim is being fully supported by our specially trained officers."
