BIRKENHEAD MP Frank Field has received an honorary fellowship from Liverpool John Moores University.

It was awarded in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Liverpool City Region and its constituents.

It is his third honour, following those he has received from City & Guilds and the Chartered Insurance Institute.

He has also received honorary doctorates from the universities of Buckingham, Chester, Liverpool, Southampton, and Warwick.

He said: "It is a great honour to receive this fellowship.

"Throughout its whole history our region has looked out to the world.

"At the same time, there are still some major challenges facing our region and I will continue working hard to help find and implement the right solutions." 

Also among the ten honorary fellows was Lord Hall of Birkenhead, the Director General of the BBC.
