COMIC legend Billy Connolly is coming to Merseyside as part of his new tour later this year.

The comedian, actor, musician, TV presenter and artist brings his High Horse show to Liverpool's Echo Arena on Saturday, November 19.

Known first for his stand-up comedy, beginning in the mid 1970s, Connolly has since appeared in numerous films from handsome dramas like Mrs Brown and Quartet to crime thriller The Boondock Saints and childrens hits Brave and Muppet Treasure Island.

He has also appeared in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, and filmed numerous travelogues for TV.

After an apprenticeship as a welder in his hometown of Glasgow, he became a professional performer in 1962, forming The Humblebums band with Gerry Rafferty, before pursuing a solo career as a comedian.

Aside from starring in numerous films and TV series, Billy has toured worldwide continuously for the last 50 years, performing to an audience of over 10,000,000.

He was awarded a CBE in 2003, given the Freedom of the City of Glasgow in 2010 and named Britain's most Influential stand-up comic in 2012.
