A GAS leak has caused six properties to be evacuated in Oxton Village this afternoon.
Those at the properties which included flats, a café and a beauty salon were forced to leave the premises after a gas pipe was cut.
The cause of the incident which occurred at around 1.30pm on Village Road is still being investigated.
Untouched food could be seen on the tables inside Home café indicating customers were forced to leave quickly.
National Grid this afternoon, confirmed the evacuation was the result of a ‘minor gas escape’.
Gas has been cut off to the affected properties and currently, all six properties remain empty while National Grid employees carry out their work.
